PCMD Molecular Bank: A National Resource for Drug Discovery and Development

Compounds libraries are being develop all around the world to store millions of potential drug candidates. Proper management of the Compound collection is the foundation of any quality Compound screening program.

The first Molecular Bank of Pakistan, established at the Dr. Panjwani Center for Compound Medicine and Drug Research, offers state-of-the-art technology and expertise in the field of screening of chemical diversity for drug discovery and development. PCMD's Molecular Bank serves as an open platform for chemists and biologists with the aim to support research on diverse small Compound libraries for their potential as leads, relevant to drug discovery.

Molecular Bank facilitate to organize the Compounds library into a 96-well plate format for High and Medium Throughput Screenings (HTS) against well-defined biological targets, such as enzymes.

Molecular Bank Stock

Compounds collection is contributed by the isolation and synthetic research groups of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences. More than 15,000 structurally diverse synthetic and natural Compounds of different classes are currently available in the PCMD Molecular Bank for bioassay screening, drug discovery and design, as well as for other chemical and biological research. Compounds Preservation and Library Design:

Compounds are preserved in the following formats,

Dry form: 5 mg and > 5 mg

Compounds preserved in screw capped glass vials with specific barcodes at -20 ˚C

Solution form: 10 mM and 20 mM in DMSO

Compounds preserved in 96-well plate, sealed with adhesive foil with specific barcode at -20 ˚C. Each mother plate have 4 daughter plates for back-up, and for screening purposes.

Dry form preserved in screw capped glass vials with specific barcodes at -20 ˚C
