Dr. Sobia Rana has an academic background of M.Sc. in Biochemistry and M.Phil in Molecular Biology with award of Merit Certificates for both degrees from University of the Punjab, Lahore. She obtained her PhD degree in the subject of Cellular & Molecular Biology from University of Health Sciences Lahore. In her doctoral work, she found the association between deregulated expression of circadian clock genes and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). After completion of her doctorate, she went to Germany for post-doc at University of Ulm to gain further expertise in her field. Her area of research includes Molecular Biology and Genetic Epidemiology, and currently she has a total of 11 research publications to her credit with an overall impact factor of 19.041 (ISI Web of Knowledge, Thomson and Reuters, 2014) in the relevant field. The current total citation count for her publications is 127. Her recent research interests include investigation of various molecular and genetic aspects of circadian rhythms, obesity, and other metabolic disorders in Pakistani population.
