His group is interested in the studies related to the structure, function, informatics and engineering of proteins; the executioner of life processes. They utilise experimental methods (Protein Chemistry, Spectroscopy and Molecular Biology) as well as knowledge-based computational techniques(Bioinformatics and Molecular modeling) to answer questions regarding structure-function relationships in proteins. They have studied structural biology and bioinformatics of proteases and their regulatory components with especial reference to the Proteosome; the intracellular protein degrading machinery. They are investigating proteins-peptides present in natural honey obtained from different geographical regions of Pakistan as well as proteins that play vital roles in normal physiology and pathogenecity of infectious bacteria (Vibrio cholerae, Niesseria maningitidis and Staphylococcus aureus).
