Dr. Mohammad Hussain Panjwani

Mohammad Hussain Panjwani (1940 - 1992) belonged to a business family which was well known for its social and educational activities. Commitment to education was a family tradition. Dr. Panjwani earned his Doctorate in Development Economics and always loved to share his knowledge with people. He was a visiting lecturer in various academia of the world and regularly presented papers on contemporary, historical, and philosophical aspects of Islam, as well as Development Economics. He was a true humanitarian whose philanthropic activities were worldwide and were irrespective of cast, creed or race.  He was the founder of Panjwani Charitable Foundation. Ironically,  a few days before his demise, he laid the foundations of his most ambitious project, the Zainab Panjwani Memorial Hospital in Karachi. This hospital, established in memory of his wife, is presently providing quality medical care in almost all disciplines of health to the public at subsidized and free basis. The Foundation established by him continues to be guided by his vision and actively contributes to the cause of human development. Dr Panjwani passed away in January 1992.
