The International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) is one of the premier research establishments in the developing world.
Its reputation for scientific research and training extends far beyond the country's borders Founded by Prof. Dr. Salimuzzaman Siddiqui, FRS, and developed largely through the efforts of Prof. Dr Atta-ur-Rahman, FRS, it has emerged as the leading research institute in the developing world.
It is the UNESCO Center of Excellence, the WHO Center of Excellence, the TWAS Center for Excellence, and the OIC Center of Excellence,
and it is the only institution in the Islamic world to have won the IDB prizes for Excellence twice in the last two decades.
In the last 51 years, it has earned major recognition from Pakistan in the form of 33 high civil awards to its faculty, apart from training thousands of
young researchers from home and abroad in frontier areas of science and technology. HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry and

ICCBS Becomes UNESCO Centre for Excellence Category-2 Institute..
The International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, has been upgraded as “United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation Centre for Excellence Category-2 Institute”, ICCBS Director Professor Dr Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, told on Friday to the newly admitted students of M Phil and PhD programme in their orientation.
