Ioannis P. Gerothanassis received his B.Sc. in Chemistry from the AristotleUniversity of Thessaloniki (1974), Greece, his M.Sc (1978), Ph.D. (1980) and D.Sc (2011) from the School of Chemical Sciences, University of East Anglia, England. Currently he is Professor of Organic Chemistry in the Chemistry Department of the University of Ioannina, Greece, where he served as Vice-Rector (2003-2006) and Rector (2006-2010). He is Vice Chairman of the Hellenic Quality Assurance and Accreditation Agency (HQAA) for Higher Education, Athens (2014-2020). His research interests are focused on NMR applications in Bioorganic Chemistry, Structural Biology, Food Chemistry and Natural Product Analysis. He has published over 171 papers in international journals with a total h-factor of Over 630, number of citations 6300, and h–index = 43. He is also included within the top 2% of scientists of their main subfield discipline (Harvard University, https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pbio.3000918). He received numerous fellowships and awards for research activities in various Universities and Research Institutes including the University of Lausanne; CNRS, Nancy, France; Curie Institute, Orsay, France; Max Planck Institute, Mülheim, Germany; MRC, London; QMW College, London; University of Florence; University of Leipzig, Germany.
