It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our esteemed alumnus, Prof. Dr. Nadeem Akhtar. This devastating news has left our entire community in shock and grief. Dr. Nadeem Akhtar was an integral part of our ICCBS family, and his contributions to the scientific community will always be remembered. Their sudden demise is a tremendous loss to all of us. We extend our deepest condolences to Prof. Dr. Nadeem Akhtar’s family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time. May they find strength and solace in the memories of their beloved. we were honored to host our esteemed alumnus, Dr. Shazia Khan, Ph.D., who shared invaluable insights on “My ProfessionalJourney: from Natural Products Chemistry to Mass Spectrometry Imaging” with ICCBS students, faculty, and staff.
Key Takeaways: Early career: Ph. D. (Natural Product Chemistry), Assistant Professor at the COMSATS Institute, Lahore.
Research Experience: Research Assistant, Bioscience Department, Swansea University, Visiting Scholar, Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences, University of Strathclyde, and Postdoctoral Researcher, University of Edinburgh's Centre for Cardiovascular Science.
Current Role: Research Fellow, Centre for Cardiovascular Science, University of Edinburgh and Leads Mass Spectrometry Imaging (MSI) Group, Edinburgh Clinical Research Facility.
Research Interests: Mass Spectrometry Imaging (MSI) for tissue analysis, Metabolomics and lipidomics for biomarker discovery using MSI and LC-MS, and Supervising PhDs and Post Doc scientists, managing MSI technology resources.
