The Bio-Bank facility at the Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD), is the source for the acquisition, maintenance, and supply of cell lines for the research scholars of ICCBS.. For record keeping, computerized system is employed. To date around 130 cell lines are available in the Biobank.

The bank is not only used for isolating, culturing and propagating the cells, but will also be utilized for specimen collection, required for scientific investigations of biological and medical nature. A database will be created for DNA, RNA or proteins extracted from tissue samples. This will provide an excellent opportunity to investigate the patho-physiological etiology of diseases. For quality control, the Bio-bank includes necessary staff and storage facilities, security and computer information systems. Eventually this facility is bound to emerge as the national facility as the repository of biological specimens of all types for research purposes.
