KP’s University of Swabi Joins Hands with ICCBS, University of Karachi

The University of Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has joined hands with the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, to promote cooperation in scientific research, education, and capacity building. ICCBS and the University of Swabi have agreed to facilitate collaboration between the two institutions in areas of mutual interest, including student exchange, research collaboration, and training of technical staff and faculty members.
A spokesman for ICCBS, University of Karachi, said on Wednesday that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed online by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Raza Shah, Director, ICCBS, and Prof. Dr. Mian Sayed Khan, Vice Chancellor of the University of Swabi, on behalf of their respective institutions.
One of the primary objectives of the MoU is to establish a mutually beneficial relationship for knowledge sharing, research capacity building, and other related areas.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Raza Shah said that ICCBS was one of the eminent research establishments in the region. He said its academic and research capacity could be gauged from the fact that it runs one of the largest doctoral programmes in Pakistan. He further said that ICCBS had been designated as a Centre of Excellence by UNESCO, WHO, TWAS, and the OIC.
It is pertinent to mention that the University of Swabi is striving to promote teaching, learning, and research in various disciplines. According to the MoU, both institutions will collaborate to facilitate the exchange of faculty members, researchers, and experts for research, teaching, and knowledge sharing. ICCBS will provide access to laboratories and scientific equipment and make chemicals available for research.
The University of Swabi will facilitate co-supervision for Master’s, MPhil, and PhD students from ICCBS, while ICCBS will encourage its researchers to undertake such supervisory responsibilities. Both institutions will encourage the exchange of talented students and identify students for exchange programmes at their respective institutions.
